Article Guidelines

Darren PinderDarren Pinder

The Rocket Squirrel blog has been set up to allow any member of the Squirrels to post on any topic related to the community. For that reason, we have a variety of categories set up which cover all the channels of the Slack team.

We will try to keep the article guidelines as short as possible, but we believe the points below are important enough to specify to new authors:

  1. Your post should fit into an existing category. If you would like a new category set up, please contact us.
  2. Your article should incorporate the Style Guide detailed here.
  3. Your post absolutely cannot contain any copyrighted materials, which include (but are not limited to) photography, video, audio, code, files, etc. if you’re unsure why this is an issue, please read this blog by @darren. Using copyrighted content without appropriate permission is a serious issue, and may well result in your content and user account being removed from this site.
  4. On a similar note, do not post any illegal content.
  5. If you wish to include stock photos (which are strongly encouraged), then we request you use one of the following copyright-free royalty-free websites:
    1. Unsplash
    2. Pexels
    3. Albumarium
    4. Pixabay
  6. When uploading images, a maximum image dimension of 2000px wide is more the sufficient for cover photos. File sizes are limited to 3Mb.
  7. Whilst we encourage individual opinions, we do ask restraint if your article is being overly-critical of an individual or company. Fair reviews are encouraged, tirades aren’t.
  8. Remember at all times that you, the author, are representing the entire Rocket Squirrel community on this site. Please don’t let us down.
  9. If you are posting work in a Showcase, we recommend you seek the permission from any other project contributors before posting.
  10. Please keep swearing to a minimum in your posts. We’re all adults here when used in an appropriate context it is fine, but let’s try to keep it family-friendly.
